The new "Home" and an Elder

Well it looks as though my lovely, large, carpenter bee family is moving on up, quite literally!   last year they resided in a stump in the middle of the lawn, This year they are in a branch. i would just sit and watch them come and go. i am not sure if they have altogether abandoned the stump, or if they are just expanding to a branch in one of my trees in addition to the stump.

Meet Sentry everyone

What ever the case i just absolutely love watching them! The Sentry, as i have come to call him is hilarious fending off other flyers. He seems to have some kind of obsession or infatuation with a specific rose bush. He is young. The elder bees were hard at work carving on the branch. I even caught a glimpse of sunshine, the big golden one, i believe to be the female. Life is good. Mother nature is amazing.
