Wasting away

Several weeks and a cold later my main 2 projects are still not complete. We have been cooking up a storm of yummy, healthy, fresh meals Wednesday we made a Chicken, Mushroom, and Brown Rice Slow Cooker Casserole. Today we made Carrot, Celery and Leek Soup with Cornbread Dumplings (pictured cooking above ^) It turned out awesome but it was more mealy than dumpling-y. (I posted the Recipes here if desired).  Leeks are great, i had never had them before.
They are like a onion/garlic mix which should be no surprise, after all they are in the same family. I am going to try planting some of the ends. i would love to start growing them. Here i am playing with mine! ->>>

Due to all the fresh produce we have been using there are tons of scraps left over from the parts we didn't need and also my morning banana peels ready to start rotting and wasting away! "Sentenced to life, to rot away." as Joe says. It made me sad to think all those scrapes would be thrown out and wasted when they could be put to use as compost. i asked Joe to put it together and he did! Now we too finally have the wonderful compost tumbler set up and ready. After speaking to a friend of mine i learned they too set up and placed their 1st items to be composted tonight as well.
They even have the same bin!

Well the week is over. hopefully we'll be able to get some work done on the main projects next week. I know its sure to be a busy one. We'll be touring Marin Sun Farms early Wednesday morning. Then there's a Magic, the gathering thing at the Mutiny that night (i am going to play Munchkin not magic)
